Biotech in food ingredients is at a pace in China

I made a week trip to China to visit a few places Making flavours. My prime target was the production of natural vanillin from rice bran. My hosts Acerchem are processing rice for protein and ferulic acid . Ferulic is used to produce vanillin by bioengineering.

I also visited a factory producing Vanillin from Ferulic and  saw a very modern unit  with all certificates available. Whether they are competitive remains to be seen. The bioconversion of ferulic acid seems to be expensive.

The biotech factory can also produce Acetoin Natural and fruit extracts.
