Story Makes News.
A couple of weeks ago I was making a novel food application. I was told curtly that the Food Standards Authority (FSA) were understaffed and had too many applications for novel foods. I was asked to make my application to another country in the EU. This story was taken up by Private Eye a UK satirical political publication . https://privateeye.subscribeonline.co.uk/subscriptions/private-eye?personalSubscription=true. And well worth the money too !
As a result of Private Eye running this story the FSA is now back to normal and accepting applications for novel foods from UK companies. ! I must also thank Andrew Bingham MP , High Peak who also did his bit for Britain!
Now if we can get the FSA , EFSA and DEFRA to re think about Glucosamine Chondroitin and Chitosan as chemicals and not animal by-products we could clear up the current over legislated area of products that are ,in my opinion , chemicals. After all we do accept amino acids from feathers. However I did hear some rumours of the powers to be looking at them too !!
