The desire to make your product appear healthy and free from this and that has even affected Cocoa Cola. Now they have a law suit in the land of law suits, California. We all know that Coca Cola is the most successful drink ever and why they have to try and make health claims for a traditional product beats me. I remember when a certain Baked Bean Manufacturer made claims that the beans contained no artificial sweetener. They never did but did contain sugar. I wonder what they try to claim now?
Coke should be formulating a new Cola to appeal to the new consumer that wants natural everything. So how about Coke Life sweetened with Stevia the natural intense sweetener. It seems Coke Life still has “natural ” sugar but of course reduced . So I suppose any sugar reduction is good. Of course the Coke Lite with artificial sweeteners will be less but there are many who think that these sweeteners can promote eating and obesity. All about balancing the hormones that make us crave and make us stop eating. Apparently these products have knackered our built in stop lights by making us think we are getting the sweet rush. The problem is that overweight people have large amounts of leptin, but their brains aren’t getting the important signal to stop eating.We will be writing about Leptin ; the “STOP eating” hormone in a later post.
But back to Coke Life. Nice to see a reduction in sugar but does it also contain no phosphoric acid ? How about artificial caffeine ? However that is not a preservative or a flavour. Or is it ?
In a previous post we wrote about Friends of the Earth and Natural Vanillin so it is not just Coke who have great desire to be seem to be natural . The Vanillin is subject of bad press for the producer. Maybe its a simple case (???) if Nature does not do the process it is not natural
